What is Kundalini Yoga & Meditation?
Kundalini Yoga as Taught by Yogi Bhajan® is a more ancient form of yoga than what you find in most American yoga studios. Its roots are in Raj Yoga and contains aspects of all 8 limbs of yoga. It was originally passed from master to student among the royal and wealthy families in northern India, kept secret until Yogi Bhajan came to the west and began teaching and training teachers in America in the 1960s.
It is known as “The Yoga of Awareness” and is the fastest way to establish an aligned relationship between your body, mind and soul. Kundalini Yoga is for anyone and everyone. It was taught to householders, not athletes, designed for people who have to cope with the daily obstacles and stresses of holding jobs, raising families, managing businesses and maintaining a household. The focus is on achieving powerful results quickly and efficiently.
Kundalini yoga uses many similar poses as the styles of yoga we are more familiar with here in the US, but the focus is to strengthen, stimulate, and tune the physical body for the purpose of accessing deeper meditative states. It is designed to give you “hands on” experience of your highest consciousness, and in doing so, help you heal any past blockages and reach your true human potential. Kundalini Yogis often discuss topics of spirituality, but the viewpoint is universal and nondenominational.
It is for those who want the skills to cope successfully with the challenges of living in this day and age.
“Kundalini yoga classes are a dynamic blend of postures, pranayam, mantra, music and meditation, which teach you the art of relaxation, self-healing and elevation. Balancing body and mind enables you to experience the clarity and beauty of your soul. No previous experience in yoga is required for you to achieve results with your very first class.”
